About Doctor
Victor’s grandparents embarked on their journey to Australia during the mid-1800s gold rush. Aubrey Chang, Victor’s father, entered the world in Tamworth, while May Lee, his mother, took her first breath in Inverell, situated in the northwest of New South Wales. In the early 1930s, Victor’s parents relocated to Hong Kong, where fate brought them together, leading to their union in matrimony. Subsequently, the couple settled in Shanghai.
Victor Chang, also known as Yam Him, came into existence in the bustling city of Shanghai in November 1936. However, the tranquility of his early years was disrupted by the invasion of Japanese forces in Shanghai. Consequently, when Victor was a mere two years old, the Chang family made the arduous journey back to Hong Kong. The year 1948 marked a somber turn in Victor’s life, as his mother succumbed to breast cancer. This heartbreaking loss played a pivotal role in shaping Victor’s aspirations, inspiring him to contemplate a future dedicated to the field of medicine.
